Eleanor “Ellie” Marzocco passed away peacefully Thursday, April 19, 2018 in her home in Ashland, Oregon, surrounded by caregivers and loved ones.
Ellie’s lively and passionate spirit brought out the sweetness in all who surrounded her. As a dedicated social worker by trade, Ellie’s commitment was rooted in social justice and equality, serving those who needed it most. After raising their son in Cleveland, Ohio, Ellie and her husband, Frank, moved to Ashland to retire and invest in their love for culture and the arts.
Ellie was an advocate for democracy, education, and individualism, and enjoyed the beauty of nature, fine food and wine, and the joys of gardening. Her open heart and sharp personality were advantageous in her cherished communities at Mountain Meadows and the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Ellie will forever be remembered as the small woman with a big heart.
Ellie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Hannah; as well as her grandson, Oscar; and niece, Mary.
Family, friends, and caregivers will be celebrating Ellie’s life Saturday, April 28 from 1-4 p.m. Please call 530-545-9700 for more details.
