A celebration of life for Duane Paul Rifenbark will be officiated by Thomas Westendor at Faith Lutheran Church, 1773 S. Columbus Ave., in Medford at — p.m. Following the service, a military service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park. A viewing will be held at Conger~Morris on Thursday, Sept. 25 from 3-7 p.m.

Duane Paul Rifenbark passed away on September 21, 2008 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Duane was born Apr. 15, 1932 in Yankton, S.D. to Leo and Martha Rifenbark. When he was 15 years of age, he moved with his family to Medford, Ore. where he attended Junior and Senior High School.

On April 15, 1950, Duane enlisted in the U.S. Army. He took basic training at Fort Ord, Calif. On Sept. 1, 1950, he landed in Korea. Duane served with the 35th Reg., 25 Division until he was wounded 9 miles past Suwan, Korea on Jan. 27, 1951. Duane was discharged from Madigan Army Hospital on Aug. 21, 1951.

He worked at the Medford Post for two years and then went into the lumber industry. He retired from Boise Cascade after 26 and a half years of service as a clipper.

Survivors include two nephews, Steve Hudson and family, and Lonnie Hudson and family, both of Medford, Ore.; and one niece, Laurie Zerger and family, of Eagle Point, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha; his father, Leo; and a sister, Ruth, all of Medford, Ore.
