Donald "Don" Lee Goldschmidt

May 6, 1944 - June 23, 2018

Donald “Don” Lee Goldschmidt went to live forever in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, June 23, 2018 at the Oregon Health and Science Hospital after suffering a stroke. He was surrounded by his loved ones as we lifted him up to Heaven, setting him free.

Don was born May 6, 1944 in Whittier, California to Arthur Albert Goldschmidt and Ruth Pauline (Churchill) Goldschmidt. He was the middle of three children; older brother, Wayne Byron Goldschmidt and younger sister, Erna Jean (Goldschmidt) David. The family moved to Southern Oregon when Don was just four years old, and he grew up in Jacksonville. He moved back to Southern California for his senior year in high school, graduating from Montebello High School in 1962.

After graduation Don returned to Southern Oregon where he met his best friend and the love of his life Nanette Suzanne Burgoyne. They married August 25, 1964 and were blessed to enjoy 54 years together, raising their family in Jacksonville. They have two children, Michael Lee Goldschmidt and Susan Ann (Goldschmidt) Krebs. He enjoyed his time as a volunteer firefighter with the Jacksonville volunteer fire department serving in the later 60's and into the early 70's. Don worked as a local fuel truck driver, delivering to farmers and loggers from 1968 to 2006, when he retired from Hays Oil.

He loved spending time outdoors, traveling, camping, hunting, and fishing with his boys. He loved snowmobiling and picking huckleberries. He enjoyed people and made friends easily! He especially loved spending time with his family and many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; mother, Ruth; and brother, Wayne. He leaves behind his loving wife, Nanette; son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Nancy; daughter, Susan; son-in-law, Jim; sister, Erna; five grandchildren, Amanda, Andrea, Stephen, Taylor (Dalton), and Tyler; and three great- grandchildren, Zoe, Micaiah, and Abigail.

He will always be remembered for his smile and loving heart!

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., August 4, 2018 at Mountain Church at 1 E. Main St., Medford, OR 97501.
