Dollie Catherine Farnsworth

Dollie Catherine Farnsworth

Dollie Catherine Farnsworth of Medford, Ore. was received by our Lord in Heaven on July 25, 2007.

She was born August 21, 1921 in Woodland, Idaho to Fred and Ada Belle Fairhurst. On December 17, 1939, she married Donald Daryl Farnsworth in Clyde, Calif. She had twelve children: six boys and six girls. She liked even numbers. Mostly a stay-at-home mom, she made the best potato soup, homemade bread and huckleberry jam this side of heaven. Although a petite, not quite five foot tall woman, she hunted deer and elk and fished for trout, steelhead and salmon alongside her husband of nearly 60 years.

She and her husband moved to Medford in 1968. She worked for a while as a nurses aide. She was a member of the Little Butte Mountain Men Muzzle Loading Club. She and her husband were called upon many years to visit elementary schools as well as the Southern Oregon Historical Society to tell stories of the mountain men and to show their large collection of arrowheads they had found on their many hunting trips. She wrote poetry and could make up songs for every occasion. She was truly a devoted wife, a wonderful mother and a blessing to her friends. Dollie attended the Medford Southwest Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her daughter, Nancy; her father; her mother; six brothers; five sisters and three grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Farnsworth of Medford, Estelle Mitchell of Eagle Point, Patricia Pratt of Grants Pass, Margaret Farnsworth of Sandy, Ore. and Carol Providenti of Carson City, Nev.; her sons, Donald of Broken Arrow, Okla., Daryl of Visalia, Calif., Duane of Medford, Ore., Daniel of Medford, Ore., Dale of Umatilla, Ore. and Dallas of O'Fallon, Mo.; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be held at the Eagle Point National Cemetery on Friday, August 3, 2007. Pastor Don C. Farnsworth of Broken Arrow, Okla. will officiate.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.
