Dave Wesley Kleen

Dave Wesley Kleen of Ashland, Ore. passed away on August 15, 2007 while on a family sailing vacation in the San Juan Islands.

Survivors include wife, Joan Kleen; daughter, Kelly Larson and son-in-law, Scott Larson of Medford; sons, Tim Kleen of Portland and Jack Kleen of Ashland; grandchildren, Phoebe and Ty Larson. Dave was the oldest of his four siblings who included brother, Mike Kleen and family of Portland, Ore.; brother, Steve Kleen and family of Port Orford, ORr.; and sister, Helen Ellison and family of Ashland; also left behind are many loving nieces and nephews. His parents, Walt and Ruth Kleen, of Redmond, Ore., preceded Dave in death.

A graduate of Redmond Union HS with the class of 1959, Dave lived in Portland with his family where he worked for United Airlines, later transferring his family to Ashland where he continued to work for United, retiring in 1997. In retirement, Dave devoted his time to family and especially his young son, Jack. Dave also pursued his favorite hobbies: carpentry, sailing and music and dedicated his talents to his many friends and community, most recently Jack's school, the John Muir School.

Services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Church, 87 Fourth Street in Ashland. An open house at the Kleen's home in Ashland will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the John Muir School, 100 Walker Avenue, Ashland, OR 97520.
