Dale Lee Pratt

Dale L. Pratt, 87, peacefully left his worldly home November 10, 2017, following a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born May 9, 1930 in Plymouth, Indiana to Daniel and Hazel (Runnells) Pratt, the sixth of 10 children.


Dale moved to Oregon with his family in 1945. He attended school in LaPaz and Bremen, Ind. and Medford Senior High School. His interest in and love of farming began at an early age working peppermint fields in Indiana. His Oregon employment included the Holland Hotel; Medco; a custom farming partnership with Norman Thames; raising cattle; and later, learning and working at construction and remodeling.


On June 25, 1950 he married the love of his life, Carlene M. Mark at the First Presbyterian Church in Medford. Together they raised two daughters.


Dale enjoyed playing his daily round of golf at Cedar Links, salmon and steelhead fishing on the Rogue, and deer and elk hunting. He was active as a coach in his granddaughter’s Little League softball, winning several American Little League championships. He was a life member of Medford Elks Lodge #1168.


Dale is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carlene M. Pratt; daughters, Dalene (Tom) Jolley, Gig Harbor, Washington and Carla A. Pratt, Medford; grandchildren, T J (Nancy) Jolley, Milford, Connecticut, Karen (Les) Mayer, Medford, Kiley Bechler, Bradenton, Florida, and Lindsey Cartwright, Mesa, Arizona; 11 great-grandchildren, Cali, Madison, and Paige Jolley, Gabe and Kasey Mayer, Hailie, Haidyn, Hana, Janishya, and Jamarkis Corwin, and Ashlynn Schmitt; brothers, B. David Pratt of Marcola and Stephen Pratt of McMinnville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Hazel Pratt; sisters, Elsie VanMeter, Wilma Leeper, and Drucilla Hillyer; brothers, Bill, Ike, Neal, and Dean; and granddaughter, Aubrie Mayer.


Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Stone Ridge Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Medford High School Golf Program, Attn: Sheila, 1900 N. Keeneway Drive, Medford, OR 97504. Arrangements by Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary.
