Cecilia passed away peacefully on Oct. 24, 2008, at Dempsey's Foster Home, Medford. She was in her 96th year. She was born April 3, 1913, in Springfield, Ore., to Cecilia and William Werth. She grew up on the Applegate where her father operated a creamery. Later her family moved to the Coos Bay/North Bend area where she lived before entering college.

Cecilia graduated from the University of Oregon in 1935, majoring in music and obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree. Cecilia was a gifted pianist and throughout a 40 year career she taught hundreds of students in the greater Medford area. She also was a substitute teacher for the Jackson County School District.

In 1941, she married Earl E. Fichtner and lived in Portland, Oregon, working at Swan Island building Liberty ships for the war effort. After the war, they moved back to Medford where they raised their four children. In 1963 they divorced, but throughout the years they remained good friends.

A loving mother to her daughter, and son-in-law, Ceci and John Williams of New Zealand; her sons, Donald, of Medford, Richard, of Eagle Point, and Paul and daughter-in-law Michele of Sacramento. Grandmother to ten children and great-grandmother to twelve children. She is also survived by her brother, Donald of Springfield, Va.

A dearly loved Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother who will be sadly missed.

Her funeral will be held at Perl Funeral Home, Siskiyou Cemetery on Saturday Nov. 1, 2008, at 11 a.m.
