Cecile A. Maxey Poole passed away peacefully November 29, 2017. She was born May 2, 1941 in Glendale, California to Max and Lola Maxey (both deceased). Cecile married Earl K. Poole Sr. January 30, 1960. Earl served in the Navy, which took them to Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. They also lived in California and moved to Oregon in 1973. Cecile worked at Harry and David for 33 years until her retirement in 2003.
She was a beloved sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Cecile was a good and faithful servant to her family, friends, and her Catholic faith. She lived in the Rogue Valley for many years. Recently, she moved in with her daugher and son-in-law, Yvonne and Juergen Steuber. Cecile loved spending time with family and all were welcome in her home for a visit. She loved to play dice and cards, including an occasional game of Cards Against Humanity. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, where she was active. This past summer, she traveled to Minnesota with her sisters, Marie Corrigan and Pat Mathwig, where she had a great time and made great memories. At the end of her life, Cecile put her worldly things in order and was especially focused on saying goodbye to her family, whom she cared about deeply.
Cecile is survived by her siblings, Marie Corrigan, Pat Mathwig, and Everett Maxey; five children and their spouses, Tim (Kathleen), Seaside, Oregon, Yvonne (Juergen) Steuber, Central Point, Ore., Tom(Donna), White City, Ore., Earl Jr. (Heather), Keizer, Ore., and Yvette (Joe)Wallace, Oxnard, Calif. Her grandchildren are Aaron, Anna, Tara (Eddie) Grainger, Andrew, Ashlee (Mike) Kharrl, Sierra Triplett, Iris, Lillian (Gabe) DeLeon, Brier, Chris, William, Alexander, Cameron (Jerrymi) Tucker, and Collin Sirianni; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five step-great- grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Earl Sr. in 2015 and great-grandson, Carson in 2016.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, 600 Beebe Rd, Central Point, OR, followed by a luncheon at the church. A private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Asante Hospice, Medford, Ore.
