Carlos Reed Sander, 83, passed away July 10, 2018 in Medford, Oregon. Carl was born April 10, 1935 in Klamath Falls, Ore. to Oscar and Dolly (Shephard); he was raised in Lakeview and Ashland, Ore. He married Jeanne Clough and together they had three sons, David (Linda) Sander, Ted (Jennefer) Sander, and Philip (Cynthia) Sander. He later married Angela Hill, adding a fourth son, Damian Luisi (Sarah).
As a young man, Carl owned Carl's Eastside Shell and West Main Shell gas stations. Over the years, Carl worked as a manager for Minute Markets. Later, Carl was an administrator for two nonprofit organizations, The Salvation Army and The Loyal Order of the Moose.
Carl was an active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and later the Knights of Columbus. He was also volunteered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish. One young man Carl sponsored in the Catholic Church went on to become a priest, Father Brent Crowe.
Carl loved to camp and go boating and go RVing with family and friends. After retirement, he constantly used his Kindle and "The Google." Reading and the Mail Tribune crossword puzzles kept his mind alert and he was able to keep track of his grandchildren using Facebook.
Carl is survived by his wife, Angela; his four sons and their wives; 15 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his sisters Aneva Wiens, Sandra Godlove, and Lenea Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dolly; two sisters, Wanda Babcock and Moya Hickcock; and grandson, Timothy Reed Sander.
A funeral Mass will be held in his honor, 8:30 a.m., August 4, 2018, at Sacred Heart Church, 517 W. 10th Street, Medford, Ore. Father Ken Sampson will officiate. A reception will be held afterward at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 772 Black Oak Drive, Medford, Ore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Vincent de Paul, 2424 North Pacific Highway, Medford.
