Bruce "Bud" Dawson

Bud Dawson, 64 years old, passed away at Rogue Valley Medical Center on October 10, 2007. He was born Bruce Evans Dawson, in Seattle, Wash. on April 28, 1943. After graduating high school in 1960, Bud joined the United States Marine Corp where he served one year overseas and three years at the LTA Marine Base in Santa Ana, Calif. During that time, he met and married Mary Lou Delacruz, and together they had four children; Vincent, Monique, Tanya, and Elizabeth. After his military service ended, he obtained his Contractor's License and began his long career in the construction industry.

In 1976, he moved his family to Phoenix, Ore., where his children all attended and graduated from Phoenix High School. He was a member of the Phoenix High Booster Club and loved watching his kids' sporting events.

In 1990, he took a break from construction and obtained his Realtors License and worked for several years for ERA Real Estate and made many friends along the way. He eventually went back to his first love, construction and added excavating to his credentials.

Bud loved street rods and enjoyed working on his own '62 Chevy while blasting the "oldies" and he had the greatest work ethic of anyone we knew. He enjoyed spending time using his creativity in renovating his own home. His children hope to finish the project in his honor.

Bud is survived by his children; two sons-in-law, Marcus and Jason; his ex-wife, Mary-Lou; his sister, Gay Snelson, of Federal Way, Wash.; and eight grandchildren, Will, Taylor, Connor, Evan, Haley, Devyn, Ethan, Everett and sadly will miss the birth of his ninth grandchild due in December, but we know he will be lovingly watching.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Conger~Morris Chapel, located at 715 West Main St., Medford, 772-7111. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Phoenix High School Athletic Department.

We will miss you, Daddy.
