Bonita Marie Billings was born on July 12, 1983, in Ashland, Ore., to Tim and Patty Billings. She passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning, November 20, 2011. Her sudden and unexpected passing has left her family, friends, and colleagues brokenhearted.
Bonnie graduated from Ashland High School in 2001. She began college at Southern Oregon University in the Fall of 2001. In 2003, Bonnie was diagnosed with cancer. Throughout her treatment and recovery, she remained strong and determined not to let the cancer rule her life. She became an eight-year cancer survivor and went on to earn her bachelor of education degree in 2008. One year later, she received her master of education degree, including endorsements in math, reading, and english as a Second Language (ESL). During the 2009/2010 school year she was employed by the Rogue River School District as the ESL teacher and reading specialist. This school year she was employed as a teacher at LOGOS Charter School for the Medford School District.
Bonnie loved her family, her job and her menagerie of animals. She loved to read, knit, make things for her friends and family, and to spend time with her loved ones. She spent most of her summers helping her father with his hay business. Bonnie treasured her close-knit family and looked forward to any occasion for a family get-together.
Bonnie is survived by her father and mother, Tim and Patty Billings; sister, Brianna; grandparents, Wayne and Doris Wiley; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Bonnie, we will always love you and never forget you. Your passing was the saddest day of our lives.
