Billie Dawn Hagert passed away November 20, 2013 at Farmington Square Memory Care Facility at the age of 82. Billie was born December 4, 1930 in San Gabriel, Calif., the oldest daughter of Floyd and Jeneveve (Whaley) Taylor.
Billie was raised in the San Gabriel area and married the love of her life, Melvin Hagert, April 17, 1948. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1952 where they raised five children. Billie became a registered nurse, graduating from Southern Oregon College's nursing program in 1970 after starting her nursing career at old Sacred Heart Hospital in Medford. They retired to Brookings in 1989 where she owned Billie's Antiques but returned to Medford in 2003 to be near family.
Billie enjoyed antiques, painting, travel, and spending winters in Yuma Arizona and Mexico, but she was the happiest when spending time with her family in the Rogue Valley.
Billie is survived by her husband, Melvin, of Medford, Ore.; sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Ruben Aparacio of Talent, Ore.; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Jo Taylor of Phoenix; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Judy Hagert of Eagle Point, Ore., Dave and Julie Hagert of Ashland, Ore.; son, Tom Hagert of Talent, Ore.; and daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Shawn Winchell of Bandon, Ore.; as well as 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Taylor; sister, Vicky Bray; and son, Stephen Hagert.
A rosary vigil will be held at Conger Morris Chapel in Central Point at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Shepard of the Valley Catholic Church, 600 Beebe Road, Central Point with a private entombment for immediate family following.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Providence Hospice, 2033 Commerce Drive, Medford OR 97504 or the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
