Betty Ann Gregg

Betty Ann Gregg passed away March 16, 2014 at Madrone Hospice House in Yreka, Calif. Betty was born in Phenix City, Ala. to Henry Grady Giles and Mildred Pauline Dawson Giles December 28, 1930.

Betty was active in sports during her high school years in Southern California and lettered in many sports.

After graduating high school, Betty married Tommy Dale Cook. They had two children, Tommy Lee and Jimmy Don, and moved to Northern California. In 1962 they divorced and Betty re-married several years later to Earl Gregg, a childhood friend. They moved to Southern California for a short time and then to Solvang, Calif. in Santa Barbara County. They raised Tommy and Jimmy in the Santa Ynez Valley and loved living there. They were avid bowlers, owned airplanes, and traveled the world.

Betty worked in Solvang many years for Neils and Stella Jensen at the Danish Inn Bakery. She retired in 1995.

In 1999, Betty and Earl moved to Medford, Ore. Earl passed away in 2005 and Betty suffered from Alzheimer's Disease needing full time care. She resided in care facilities until March of this year when she was moved to the Madrone Hospice House in Yreka, Calif.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mildred Giles; sister, Caroline Royster and husband, Jack Gregg. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Nell Arsenault (Norman) of Victorville, Calif., Diane Kamien (Larry) of New Orleans, La.; sons, Tom Cook (Lila) of Yreka, Calif., and Jim Cook (Laurie) of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughters, Rebecca Cook of Milwaukee, Wis., Tawny Campbell (Denny) of Hornbrook, Calif., Cecilia Selzler and her son, Kieran, of Beeville, Texas, and Teri Sims and her son, Josh, of Dover, Tenn.; grandsons, Tommy Cook of Yreka, Calif., and Jerry Smith of Hawaii and his daughter, Justine, of Portland, Ore.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Alzhiemer's Association.
