June 9, 1927 - November 16, 2017
Arthur T. Sideras was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin June 9, 1927 and passed away in his home in Medford, Oregon on November 16, 2017. He was the son of Theodore and Teresa Sideras.
During his lifetime, Art served during World War II, was a cowboy, and ran a restaurant, but what he loved most of all was being a teacher, the occupation from which he retired in 1989 from Medford Public Schools.
In his active retirement, Art pursued his lifelong interest in skiing, horses, winemaking, and travel, emphasizing the value he placed on friends, fellowship, and service to others.
Art’s long-stated desire was that he wanted to be remembered for his love for his family, his love of his country, and the appreciation he felt for the privilege of being a teacher.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce; his children, Scot and Stephanie; and his grandchildren, Sam and Tom.
A celebration of Art’s life will be held on the anniversary of his birth at Dancin Vineyards, located next to Art’s home at 4463 South Stage Road in Medford on Saturday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m.
The family requests that any remembrance of Art be made to the Mt. Ashland Racing Association or Kids Unlimited, two institutions for which Art had particular affection.
