Arthur Eric Lundahl

Arthur Eric Lundahl, 86, passed away on November 21, 2012. Art was born in Chicago, Ill. September 6, 1926, to Swedish immigrants, Eric and Ruth Lundahl. After high school, Art spent two years in the Army Air Corps. He then attended Western Illinois University and did his post graduate work at University of Illinois, Purdue, and Stanford.

He began his teaching career in Kewanee, Ill., and continued teaching high school math in Rockford, Ill., and in Ontario, Calif. While teaching in Kewanee, he met and married Doris Hillquist on June 7, 1952.

After teaching for 38 years, Art and Doris retired and moved to Ashland. Art filled his days with volunteering at the Chamber of Commerce receiving Volunteer of the Year in 2003. He was an active member of the Ashland Lions Club, receiving The Lion of the Year in 2000 and the Tom Irvin award in 2004 and again in 2011. He also enjoyed bowling with the Wednesday Senior Bowlers, singing with the Ascension Lutheran Church choir, and reading! He and Doris traveled extensively throughout the world, including 10 trips back to Sweden.

Art is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Lundahl; daughters, Kari (Al) Huff, Ann (David) White; daughter-in-law, Wilma Lundahl; sister, Jeanette Knapp; and six grandchildren, Mathew and Miles Lundahl, Eric and Stephen Huff, and Jacob and Jennie White. He was preceded in death by parents, Eric and Ruth Lundahl; and by son, Mark Lundahl.

Memorial contributions can be made to Ascension Lutheran Church or the Ashland Lions Club. Memorial services will be held on November 30th 2012 at Ascension Lutheran Church, Medford, Oregon at 1:00 pm.
