Andrew Derart Dixon passed away peacefully September 28, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 68 years and his closest friend, Mary Elizabeth Dixon. Drewe was born in Belfast, Ireland and began in dental practice with Mary in Bangor, County Down. With additional advanced degrees, they moved from England to the United States and lived in Iowa, North Carolina, California, then in Oregon. In addition to several dental degrees and publications, Drewe was awarded Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, England and D.Sc. from Queen's University, Belfast. He held many honors and was particularly proud of his Fellowship in the Anatomical Society (London) and membership of the National Academy of Medicine (Washington, D.C.). In retirement, he increased his life-long interest in gardening by becoming a certified Master Gardener in California and Oregon. He enjoyed lawn bowling, joining Mary for a hand of bridge, and in later years he derived great pleasure from the challenges of watercolor painting of Donegal and County Down landscapes. Northern Ireland was always considered his home. Drewe and Mary were seldom apart and shared a special pride and joy in the achievements of their three daughters, Jane (deceased), Mindy (and her husband Craig), and Alison. He had four grandchildren, Evan (and his wife Ashley) and Aaron Drake (and his wife Bonnie), Alison and Annalea Sweat; and three great-grandchildren, Levi, Madison, and Taylor Jo Drake. Interment will take place in Northern Ireland at a later date.
