Thursday session focuses on our smoky summers

Panelists with backgrounds in health, tourism, forestry and more will discuss the impact of forest fires and smoke on the Rogue Valley in a session from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Carnegie Building (former library), 413 W. Main St., Medford.

Noting that the effects of forest fires have hit the region regularly since the Biscuit fire of 2002, organizers say the session will discuss early containment options and what can be done to help prevent and alleviate the impact of fires in the future.

Panelists will represent a half-dozen fields: health, economy, sports/children, tourism, agriculture and forestry. Comments, limited to three minutes each, will also be solicited from audience members.
