Scout builds dog shelters for Hope Village

Eagle Scout Ben Martin of Boy Scouts Troop 7 of Medford led a community service project to benefit Rogue Retreat’s Hope Village by building dog shelters for the tiny house village guests to use for their pets.

Hope Village opened in Medford in October 2017 and is the first tiny house community in Southern Oregon. It was established by Rogue Retreat to provide transitional housing and case management for homeless people who have been without shelter.

According to Rogue Retreat, an estimated 3.5 million Americans are homeless, and 5 to 10 percent of them have dogs or cats.
