Reward offered in Ashland dispensary burglary

ASHLAND — A recreational marijuana dispensary is offering a $500 reward for help to catch and convict the person who broke into the store early Saturday and made off with more than $1,000 in edible cannabis products during the first burglary in Ashland's short history of recreational dispensaries.

"This is the first one," Ashland police Chief Tighe O'Meara said. "I can't remember another incidence of a dispensary getting broken into."

Surveillance cameras captured photos of a blue-hooded, masked and gloved man breaking into House of Leaves in the 400 block of West Main Street through a back window at 3:31 a.m. Saturday, said Ricky Lave, the store's manager.

"There was no weed stolen," Lave said. "Only edibles, mostly chocolates and gummies."

Lave did not quantify the exact loss, but said it was in excess of $1,000 in products.

Ashland police have been notified, and House of Leaves has offered $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thief, Lave said.

"Hopefully we'll get some good video evidence and get this person identified," O'Meara said.
