First Presbyterian Church, Ashland
A local World Day of Prayer service is scheduled for Friday, March 2, at First Presbyterian Church, 1615 Clark Ave., Ashland. The ecumenical service will begin at 1 p.m., with refreshments and fellowship time to follow. A liturgy written by women of Suriname will be used in gatherings around the globe. The theme is “All God’s creation is very good.” Environmental concerns will be raised, and Risa Buck, who writes the WasteNot column for the Ashland Daily Tidings, will lead a conversation about changes in recycling. The event will be led by women from five different denominations.
Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church
Great Vespers begins the weekly service schedule at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox church, in the Shoppes at Exit 24, 205 Fern Valley Road, Suite Z. Don Hildebrand will speak during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday, March 4, at Eastwood Baptist Church, 675 N. Keene Way Drive, Medford. Holy Communion will be celebrated. Hildebrand was executive director of Rogue Valley Youth for Christ for 20 years and director of pastoral services at Rogue Valley Manor from 1995 to 2012.
