Police chase, wreck, follows home robbery

Multiple suspects are in police custody after a reported robbery at a residence in Central Point Tuesday evening evolved into a police chase through east Medford.

At just after 6 p.m., a man reported that three men, of which at least two were armed, robbed him and beat him while he was working in his garage in the 800 block of Greenleaf Lane in Central Point, according to broadcast media that spoke with Central Point police.

The suspects allegedly beat the resident and robbed a friend who was visiting over small items in their pockets. The victims suffered only minor injuries, according to broadcast media.

At about 6:22 p.m., Oregon State Police spotted a vehicle believed to be involved in the robbery on southbound Interstate 5 when the car failed to yield.

The car reportedly took the south Medford exit and drove through east Medford before the vehicle lost control on North Phoenix Road near Juanipero Way in Medford at 6:27 p.m., according to Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon reports.

A call to Medford police was not returned before presstime. The number of suspects, their names and their medical conditions following the crash have not yet been released.
