Medford man dies in Eastern Oregon crash

UNITY A Medford man died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in a remote part of Eastern Oregon’s Blue Mountains.

Oregon State Police reported Gordon Waite, 39, of Medford was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup eastbound on Highway 26 milepost 200, about 12 miles west of Unity, when he failed to negotiate a curve . The truck rolled down the embankment, striking several trees before coming to rest.

OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the scene, near the Grant and Baker county line, in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest about 1:50 p.m.

Waite sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OSP was assisted by the Grant County Sheriff’s Department and ODOT.
