Five picks for live entertainment

'The New Mel Brooks Musical: Young Frankenstein'

This adaptation of Mel Brooks' funny 1974 movie opened on Broadway in 2008 and won an Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. Set in Castle Frankenstein and its surrounding foggy moors, the show's raucous score includes "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and the unforgettable treatment of Irving Berlin's "Puttin' On the Ritz." Kathy Wing directs. Shows are set for July 28 through Aug. 20 at Randall Theatre's Jacksonville location, 520 N. Fifth St. The opening reception at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 28, includes food and beverages. Tickets are $22 for the opening gala, $20 for reserved seats at all other shows.
