Firefighters quickly extinguish Ashland grass fire

ASHLAND — Quick response by firefighters quelled a wind-blown grass fire Sunday afternoon, limiting damage to five acres around the 1000 block of Emigrant Creek Road.

The fire was reported just before 3 p.m. burning in tall, dry grass along a steep slope. Within minutes, the fire grew to two acres. Wind gusts played a role in how quickly the fire spread.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
