Dutch Luv Day benefits food pantries

For every drink sold at Dutch Bros on Valentine's Day, $1 will be donated to area food pantries and other organizations dedicated to fighting hunger.

The annual Dutch Luv Day, held Tuesday, Feb. 14, will include participation from all 277 locations across seven states, according to a news release. On average, every dollar allows the purchase of up to seven pounds of food. The coffee chain shifted from canned food donations to monetary donations two years ago.

In 2016, Dutch Luv Day raised $234,030, which translates to more than 1.3 million meals. Company officials said they hope to exceed that amount this year.
