Business owner asks for help in solving thefts

The owner of The Cabinet Works in Ashland has reported the theft of two safes and is asking the public for help in solving the crime.

Robert Munroe says his business at 864 A St. was broken into between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, with the thieves making off with a floor safe and a gun safe. He said police talked with nearby neighbors, but came up with no leads, so he's asking anyone who may have seen people carrying the safes out to A Street during those hours to contact him.

Munroe said the gun safe stood 4½ feet tall and the floor safe weighed about 300 pounds, so it would have taken more than one person to carry them away. He said someone punctured a tire on his car Friday night and his business was broken into through an alley door while he was having the tire repaired.

Munroe said he's particularly hopeful of recovering personal papers and identification that was stored in the floor safe.

The Ashland Police Department case number is 17-4012. Munroe can be reached by phone at 541-482-8823 or by email at
