GOP state policy summit will be held in Medford

A first-ever Oregon policy summit sponsored by Jackson County Republicans and Freedom Works will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford.

The purpose of the summit will be to develop proposed legislation that will be forwarded to the Oregon House and Senate GOP caucuses as well as the Oregon Republican Party.

"This is the first time in history that anybody has done something like this," said Doug Breidenthal, chairman of the Jackson County Republican Central Committee.

House co-speaker Bruce Hanna will be the keynote speaker for the event.

The Oregon Conservative Policy Summit will cost $100 for the two-day event for those wanting food and a guaranteed seat.

To register, fill out the form at www.jcrpcc.org, or call 541-601-0419.

Breidenthal said anyone from the public is welcome free of charge, but seats may not be available and meals will not be included. Some of the topics that will be addressed include economic revitalization, natural resources, education reform, fiscal reform, election law reform, and technology and business competitiveness.

State Rep. Dennis Richardson, R-Central Point, and Allen Alley, chairman of the state Republican Party who ran for governor, will co-chair the event.

Breidenthal said organizers hope the policies will translate into legislative goals in 2012 and 2013, and also become part of the campaigns in the 2012 elections.
