Police want to interview a woman who fled the scene following a Monday night crash involving two motorcycles and a pickup near Eagle Point.
Two White City men on motorcycles were injured, one seriously, following a crash on Dodge Road near Wedgewood Drive just after 7:30 p.m. Monday.
One motorcycle heading west collided with a pickup with two occupants inside going the opposite direction, according to a release issued Tuesday by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The impact sent the motorcycle into the path of another bike that also had been heading west. Both cyclists slid on the ground and came to a rest off the roadway, and the pickup involved veered off the roadway and stopped in a field after crashing into a fence.
One rider was airlifted to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center with critical injuries, and the second rider was transported to the hospital via ambulance. The driver and passenger in the truck were not injured.
Witnesses reported seeing a third rider who had been riding with the two men, according to police. After the crash, she yelled for neighbors to call 911 and then left the scene. Police say they would like to get a witness statement from her.
Names have not been released while Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police investigate the case, including whether impairment played a role.
Anyone with information is asked to call sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Waldon at 541-774-6800 and reference case 18-12375.
