Tavern hold-up suspects at large

An armed robbery at the Tolo Tavern on Blackwell Road in Central Point Sunday afternoon led to a manhunt by Jackson County sheriff's deputies searching for two suspects who fled in a Ford F-150 pickup.

Preliminary information from the Sheriff's Department indicates one of the suspects entered the tavern with a 12-gauge shotgun while wearing a black ski mask. Deputies later found two pickups in the area, but neither had anything to do with the robbery, authorities said.

The tavern is located in a rural area between Central Point and Gold Hill.

Search teams were dispatched to the area with search dogs, but the suspects remained at large Sunday night, the Sheriff's Department stated in a press release.

Deputies don't have a description of the driver, but the man who entered the tavern was described as white and in his early 20s. The pickup was described as an early '80s model with a possible pinstripe.

Residents are urged to call the Sheriff's Department Tip Line at 541-774-8333 with any information about this case.
