Suspicious fire guts apartment complex overnight

A structure fire burned a apartment building at 204 N. Ivy St. to the ground overnight, Medford police reported this morning.{br class="hardreturn" /}
The department's Facebook post said the apartment complex had a long history of calls for service and code violations. On Friday, the "run-down property" was deemed uninhabitable due to several safety violations, and police stood by as numerous people vacated the building.{br class="hardreturn" /}
"Then it suspiciously burned to the ground last night," police reported.{br class="hardreturn" /}
Medford Fire-Rescue responded to the blaze at 2:03 a.m.{br class="hardreturn" /}
"We will see what the fire investigators say, but we are going to take a close look at this one," police said. {br class="hardreturn" /}
