Search continues for man in Grants Pass bank theft

GRANTS PASS — Police have released images of a man who fired a handgun into the ceiling during a Friday bank robbery.

The man walked into the Umpqua Bank branch on Rogue River Highway at 2:13 p.m. and walked toward the teller to announce the bank was being robbed, Grants Pass Public Safety officials said in a news release.

Soon after, he produced a handgun and fired a shot into the ceiling. No one was injured, police said.

The man then stuffed an undisclosed amount of cash into a bag and left on foot. He was last seen heading north on Parkdale Drive.

The man is describes as being in his mid-30s to mid-40s with a medium build. He stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 220 pounds.

He has light brown hair and a mustache extending down to his lower jaw.

He was wearing a hooded Carhartt-style jacket, a tan baseball cap and a white T-shirt. He also wore khaki pants and construction-style boots.
