Salesman faces charges of sexual abuse of customer

Police have arrested a magazine salesman suspected of groping a Central Point woman.

Steven B. Morgan, 25, of Detroit, Mich., was arraigned Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of first-degree attempted sexual abuse and first-degree burglary. A hearing has been set for May 25.

He remained in the Jackson County Jail on $15,000 bail.

Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Morgan in Medford Thursday afternoon after receiving several tips in the case.

According to a news release, Morgan came to the woman's home at 4 p.m. Tuesday selling magazines.

The woman, 20, stepped outside to talk with the man. She turned to walk back inside after he made several sexually suggestive comments, and he followed her.

Inside, he tried to kiss the woman and groped her.

He was scared off by the woman's grandmother a few seconds after the assault and ran out of the house.
