Police seek suspect

The Medford Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon need your help in locating wanted subject Bernhard Gerhards.

In November 2007, a local business owner contacted the Medford Police Department with suspicions that a manager had embezzled more than $5,000. After Gerhards, 55, was indicted on the charge of first-degree theft, a felony warrant held by the Medford Police Department was issued. In addition to this warrant, there is a warrant held by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, for three counts of tampering with drug records and three counts of second-degree forgery. The Ashland Police Department holds a felony warrant for tampering with drug records, and the total bail is $100,000.

Gerhards is described as a white male adult, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds with red hair and brown eyes. There are no known scars, marks or tattoos but Gerhards is known to speak with a heavy German accent. The picture shown here, taken July 2007, is the most recent photo available.
