One dies, three hurt in crash near Grants Pass

One person died and three were injured when a car veered off Highway 199 south of Grants Pass Sunday and struck a tree.

The Oregon State Police identified the deceased as the driver — 48-year-old Avi Livingstone of Redway, Calif.

Sgt. Mark Byrd said Monday that Livingston's 8-year-old daughter, Hana Goodkind, was in the right front passenger seat and was seriously injured. She was taken to a Medford hospital. Livingston's 12-year-old son, Ilan Goodheart, whose last name is different than his sister's, was seated in a rear passenger seat and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass, as was passenger Tosh Mason, 21, of Lopez Island, Wash., who also suffered minor injuries. All of the occupants of the 1983 Mercedes sedan were wearing seatbelts, according to an OSP report.

Byrd says driver fatigue appears to have caused the crash, which occurred just after 5 p.m. 38 miles south of Grants Pass. The investigation remains active.
