Icy road conditions are believed to be a factor in a Wednesday evening crash that left one Klamath Falls resident dead and three other Klamath Falls residents hospitalized.
Angel Briones Cendejas, 18, has been identified as the passenger who succumbed to fatal injuries in a Klamath County rollover crash on Highway 140, according to a release issued by Oregon State Police.
Cendejas was one of three passengers in a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup being driven by Andres Mares, 18, which reportedly lost control at 10:37 p.m. Wednesday while headed east near milepost 41.
According to OSP’s investigation, Mares lost control on the icy roadway, crossed into the oncoming lane and onto the westbound shoulder before rolling the truck multiple times.
Mares was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center for injuries, as were two other passengers, identified as Heather Pizano, 19, and Tatiana Cendejas, 20.
The Oregon Department of Transportation, Rocky Point Fire District, and Klamath County Fire District One assisted OSP in responding to the crash.
