One man has been arrested following a predawn shooting that left two men dead at an apartment complex in Grants Pass.
Trevor Alan Gilmore, 44, was arrested at the scene of a double homicide that occurred just after 3 a.m. Friday, according to a press release issued by the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety.
As of Friday evening, Gilmore had been booked into the Josephine County Jail on felony charges including two counts of aggravated murder and one count of unlawful use of a weapon following a Friday morning shooting in the 1700 block of Harbeck Road.
The victims have been identified as 38-year-old Justin Scott Severnak, and 42-year-old Christopher Wayne Lyon, but the police department has thus far released few details as to how the two men died beyond that a firearm was involved.
As of Friday afternoon, Grants Pass police were still investigating the crime scene. The police department referred further questions about the homicide to the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office.
Oregon court records show that Gilmore has no prior felony convictions; however, he had twice been arrested on felony weapons charges in cases that were ultimately reduced to misdemeanor convictions. Severnak and Lyon didn’t have a criminal history in Oregon, records show.
