The identity of the White City woman who was struck and killed by a car while walking near the middle of Meadows Road early Saturday morning has been released by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, along with the name of the driver.
Police said 25-year-old Sarah Marie Prinslow, of the 6200 block of Sweet Lane, was walking in the road's southbound lane when a southbound 2005 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Karen Dianne Beck, of the 16600 block of Ramsey Road, struck her near the 3-mile marker, according to a news release.
Beck and others at the scene performed CPR on Prinslow until medical personnel from Jackson County Fire District No. 3 and Mercy Flights arrived. They pronounced Prinslow dead at the scene.
The crash occurred two hours before sunrise on a stretch of road that is unlit. Visibility was further impacted by light fog and mist. Police said Beck cooperated with investigators and that criminal charges are not being considered.
