Meth statistics

The Mail Tribune is compiling weekly statistics to demonstrate the effects of methamphetamine on our community.

  • Arrests — Six people were arrested last week and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on meth-related charges, representing 18 percent of the county's total felony arrests for the week. Five suspects were arrested for possessing meth, and one was arrested for possessing, delivering and manufacturing the illegal drug. Three arrests were in conjunction with other criminal charges.
  • Court appearances — Ten people appeared in Jackson County Circuit Court last week on indictments charging them with possessing meth, representing 62 percent of the week's total felony arraignments for defendants not in jail. Two defendants' indictments included other criminal charges.
  • Addiction recovery — Seventeen meth addicts entered treatment last week, and 12 completed treatment at OnTrack Inc. Three meth addicts were admitted to inpatient treatment, and two addicts completed treatment last week at Addictions Recovery Center (ARC). Two people were admitted last week to ARC's sobering center while under the influence of meth.
