Medford police probe stabbing at traffic stop

A Medford police officer who made a traffic stop Friday evening found an injured woman who said she had been stabbed by a man who was in the car with her.

At about 8:35 p.m. Friday, a vehicle had just rolled past an unmarked Medford police car in the area of Table Rock Road and Airport Road when the driver of the car slammed on the brakes, according to a police news release that did not specify who was driving the car.

The officer pulled the vehicle over, and just as the officer was exiting his car, a woman in the car said she had just been stabbed, according to police.

Jonathan Michael Fraoli, 25, was taken into custody and jailed on charges of first- and second-degree assault as well as failure to appear for a DUII citation. He is being held in Jackson County Jail on $2 million bail.

The woman, who suffered a single stab wound to the left side of her chest, was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center. She was treated and released. A Medford police detective responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.
