Medford police investigate early morning stabbing

Medford police are investigating a stabbing reported early Friday.

A 29-year-old man was hospitalized at Providence Medford Medical Center with superficial wounds, and investigators are trying to unravel how he got them, said Medford police Sgt. Mark Bell.

Bell said the stabbing was reported about 4 a.m. Friday. The victim had visited people in the 900 block of Royal Court and was stabbed after he left their home, Bell said.

However, the victim, his girlfriend and other witnesses gave police conflicting statements about what happened, so investigators are still trying to get at the truth, Bell said.

The investigation is ongoing, headed by Detective Phil Steigleder. Police ask anyone with information about this case to call 774-2230.
