Medford firefighters get donation for trailer

Medford Fire-Rescue has received a $5,542 donation to buy a trailer to haul gear and provide a resting place during training exercises.

Beecher Carlson, a risk management brokerage, and Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. made the donation.

The fire department, which serves the city of Medford and some surrounding rural areas, will buy a self-contained trailer. The trailer will be equipped with air-conditioning, a bathroom and a refrigerator, and will provide a place for firefighters to hydrate and rest during training sessions. It also will haul gear to training sites and cut down the time spent setting up for training sessions, officials said in announcing the donation.

The grant is part of a nationwide philanthropic program operated by the donors. It is designed to provide needed equipment, training and educational tools to fire departments working with limited budgets.
