Man charged in ATV crash

SISKIYOU COUNTY — A 38-year-old Medford man was released from jail after being arrested Saturday in connection with an all-terrain vehicle crash in Siskiyou County. A 15-year-old boy suffered serious injuries, according to information from California Highway Patrol.

Michael Keith Yandell, 38, of Medford, was driving a Polaris quad on Old State Highway south of Ball Mountain Road Saturday evening with the 15-year-old also on the vehicle. Yandell veered to the east side of the dirt and gravel road into a small drainage ditch and overturned. Both riders were ejected and were not wearing helmets, said Rick Landon of the CHP.

They were found nearly unconscious by a passerby. The teen was taken to Sky Lakes Medical Center with major injuries. His status is unknown.

Yandell was treated at Fairchild Medical Center and then taken into custody. He is charged with drunk driving, reckless driving and felony drunk driving that resulted in injury and willful cruelty to a child. He was released after posting 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
