Man arrested following crash and chase

A man is in police custody after a BMW crash turned into a foot chase Tuesday in an east Medford neighborhood.

Zenaido Quinonez, 29, was arrested after crashing a silver 2000 BMW 5-series sedan into a side-yard fence Tuesday morning in the 3400 block of Ford Drive. The crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m., when Medford police attempted a traffic stop and the car eluded.

Quinonez, who had a warrant for a parole violation, allegedly fled the car from the wreckage behind the model home, then attempted to elude police on foot, jumping fences before police finally caught him in the 3000 block of Gary Drive.

As of early Tuesday evening, it was unclear what charges Quinonez faced. Medford police say he has a warrant for violating his parole, but as of 5:15 p.m. Tuesday he had not yet been booked in the jail.

Jackson County Circuit Court records show that Quinonez, also known as Zenaido Quinonez-Aispuro, has several prior convictions for burglary, drugs and impaired driving.

Quinonez was sentenced to 4 months in jail last March after pleading guilty to a felony count of driving while revoked, admitting he fled from police during a traffic stop last fall in the 300 block of Barnett Road, according to documents filed by Medford police.
