Louisiana man arrested for exposing genitals at Cascade Gorge

A citizen tip helped lead police Friday to a Louisiana man accused of repeatedly exposing his genitals May 20 to a woman clerk at the Cascade Gorge store near Lost Creek Lake, authorities said.

An image from surveillance video circulated in the media and disseminated on social media generated the tip identifying Lavon Lovis Thigpen, 38, of Gonzales, Louisiana, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The tipster Friday evening told police a man matching the photo was with two others in Mac’s Diner in Shady Cove, a police affidavit states. A deputy located Thigpen at the diner’s bar and arrested him on one count of public indecency, the affidavit states.

Thigpen was arraigned Tuesday on the charge in Jackson County Circuit Court, where Judge Tim Barnack set Thigpen’s bail at $25,000, court records show.

Thigpen, who deputies said had no previous law-enforcement contacts in Jackson County, remained in custody Tuesday evening in the Jackson County Jail.

Thigpen allegedly exposed his genitals to the teenage female clerk repeatedly while purchasing items at the store along Highway 62, deputies said. He left the store and entered the passenger side of an older red SUV that left the scene, police said.
