JACNET seizes 53 plants, arrests pot grower

A Medford man was arrested on felony drug chargers after police seized 53 marijuana plants and more than $10,000 from his home Monday, officials said.

Darrick Steward Roach, 26, was arrested by Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team officers on charges of possession, manufacture and delivery of marijuana. He remained lodged in the Jackson County Jail late Tuesday on $50,000 bail.

"We received several calls from neighbors saying they believed there was drug activity going on at Roach's residence," Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters said.

JACNET officers found 53 plants inside Roach's home in the 1700 block of Orchard Home Court. In addition, they seized digital scales, packaging materials, pipes and $10,733, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, Winters said.

"These were mature plants and worth about $9,000 to $12,000 in street value," Winters said.

Officers also found three pounds of processed marijuana inside the home, Winters said.

This was the second indoor marijuana garden JACNET officers have discovered this past week. On Friday, they pulled 32 marijuana plants from a home on China Gulch Road in a Jacksonville home and arrested the resident on felony drug charges.
