Jackson County SWAT team assists in Gold Beach pot bust

CURRY COUNTY — The Jackson County sheriff's SWAT team assisted in a marijuana bust early Tuesday in Gold Beach, police said.

The Curry County Sheriff's Office learned of large marijuana garden inside a home in the 33000 block of Cedar Valley Road.

They enlisted the help of the Jackson County SWAT team in case things turned violent, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters said.

"We often help other agencies in these situations," Winters said. "They also team up with us on felony cases."

Curry County Sheriff John Bishop did not have the number of plants seized at the property.

Arrested was 37-year-old Trevon R. Babcock, of Gold Beach.

Babcock was charged menacing, but additional charges related to the marijuana are expected. He was lodged in the Curry County Jail without bail.
