Gold Hill woman indicted in murder

GOLD HILL — A Jackson County grand jury Thursday indicted a Gold Hill woman on a murder charge in the shooting death of her husband last week.

Wanda Lee Taylor, 42, is charged in the death of Gill Edward Taylor, 46, and remains lodged in the Jackson County Jail without bail.

The grand jury delivered the indictment Thursday after hearing a two-hour presentation by prosecutors, said Jackson County Deputy District Attorney David Hoppe.

Jackson County sheriff's deputies were called to the Taylor house on Ramsey Road last Friday after dispatchers received a 9-1-1 hang-up at that location.

The deputies arrived to find Wanda Taylor hiding in a culvert near the home. Inside they found the body of her husband, who was shot several times with a small-caliber pistol and slashed with a knife.

The Taylors had been fighting earlier in the evening. Wanda Taylor was treated at the hospital for a wound to her leg, police said.
