Felony arrests

Suspended Driving — Raymond Richard Preston, 51, of the 200 block of Bigham Brown Road, Eagle Point. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies arrested Preston Tuesday on a felony warrant charging him with driving while suspended or revoked. He was booked in the Jackson County Jail Tuesday and released Wednesday on his own recognizance.

Elude — Parker Chase Layton, 21, no known address. Ashland police arrested Layton Wednesday on a felony charge of attempting to elude police in a vehicle, on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, attempt to elude police on foot and reckless driving. He was held in jail Wednesday without bail.

Mail Theft — Melanie Jean Cox, 36, of the 300 block of West Pine Street, Central Point. On Wednesday, Cox made her initial appearance in Jackson County Circuit Court on felony charges of mail theft and identity theft. She was booked in the jail and released Wednesday on her own recognizance.

Drugs — Matthew Alex Carpenter, 39, of Bend. On Wednesday, Carpenter made his initial court appearance on a heroin possession charge. He was booked in the jail and released Wednesday on his own recognizance.

Drugs — Colyn Bryce Shephard, 25, of the 6900 block of Pinehurst Street, Central Point. The Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement task force arrested Shaphard Wednesday on a felony charge of possessing methamphetamine and on misdemeanor warrants for failing to appear in court on previous charges of manufacturing and delivering heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, manufacturing, delivering and possessing heroin, and possessing methamphetamine. He was held in jail Wednesday on $47,500 bail.


Crime reports

Vandalism — 3500 block of Crater Lake Highway, Medford. Medford police took a report of fuel theft and vandalism to vehicle fuel tanks at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. The loss and damage to two fuel tanks were valued at $980.

Theft — 3100 block of Juniper Ridge Drive, Medford. Medford police took a report of burglary to a residence at 8:02 p.m. Tuesday. Items reported stolen included roughly $15,000 worth of jewelry, two bags and a Louis Vuitton purse. The loss was valued at $18,000.

Theft — 2400 block of Highgate Street, Medford. Medford police took a report of theft from a vehicle at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday. Items reported stolen included a blue steel two-shot pistol and the head of a jeweler’s hammer. The loss was valued at $310.

Vandalism — 200 block of South Central Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report of vandalism to a camera at 9:11 a.m. Wednesday. The damage was valued at $1,384.

Theft — 1100 block of Court Street, Medford. Medford police took a report of a stolen black iPhone 8 Plus at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday. The loss was valued at $800.

Vandalism — 700 block of Biddle Road, Medford. Medford police took a report of vandalism to a gas tank at 1:39 p.m. Wednesday. The damage was valued at $2,000.
