Drugs found on man held for a warrant in traffic stop

MEDFORD — A man arrested on an outstanding warrant charge during a traffic stop later was discovered to have 400 ecstasy tablets in his possession after being taken to jail.

Joshua Alexander Acosta, 22, was arrested Tuesday following the 7 a.m. traffic stop by Medford police.

Acosta, who is from Oakland, Calif., was found to have an outstanding warrant for first-degree aggravated theft. After being taken into custody, he was transported to the Jackson County jail where he was lodged. While at the jail, Acosta was found to be in the possession of the ecstasy.

Acosta was charged with possession, manufacturing and delivery of Ecstasy, supplying contraband, providing false information to a peace officer, as well as the outstanding warrant.

The vehicle was stopped while traveling northbound on Interstate 5 outside of Phoenix. Investigators believe the intended destination of the seized drugs was the Medford area.
