One Selma man is in police custody and another is dead after a reported physical altercation outside a grocery store turned into a homicide Saturday morning.
On Saturday, Oregon State Police arrested Ramon Eduardo Rodriguez-Acosta, 58, on a charge of first-degree manslaughter in the stabbing death of 46-year-old Frank Norman Chambers, also of Selma.
At about 9:18 a.m. Saturday, Josephine County Sheriff’s deputies found Chambers stabbed to death in the parking lot of the Selma Ray’s Food Place. Oregon State Police, which is aiding in the criminal investigation, believes that Chambers and Rodriguez-Acosta had engaged in a physical fight leading up to the stabbing.
Oregon State Police’s major crimes unit is still piecing the homicide together as of Saturday evening. As of just after 8 p.m. Saturday, Rodriguez-Acosta had not yet been booked in the Josephine County Jail, records showed.
